Secret Grub House in Western Colorado is Juicy Lucy's Steak and Seafood Restaurant - Places To eat In Glenwood Springs
eat out In Glenwood Springs
When we decided to change our life style and escape the hectic city life we started seeking out our next heaven on earth. Residing on the California coast was fun, but crowded regardless of what entertainment we decided to do. We had learned about Colorado and the wide open spaces, especially on the Western Slope with towns like Aspen and Vail that are smaller communities, yet a real culture and population.
Landing the plane in into Grand Junction we headed east on Interstate 70 to check out Western Colorado. It was late morning when we arrived in Glenwood Springs and decided this would be a great place to stay the weekend and then decide on Aspen or Vail in the morning. We choose to rest at the historic Hotel Colorado and after settling into our room we wanted to explore what Glenwood Springs has to do. The concierge suggested some quint shops to see, but when we inquired about fine dining he said it depends on the food you want to enjoy. Being in Colorado I wanted a big fat steak, but my wife wanted seafood like back home. I told her the nearest ocean was several miles away, so the seafood should never be as fresh as we could get at home, but she held her foot down. So his recommendation was a quaint eatery right across the bridge called Juicy Lucy’s Steakhouse where we could have the best selection for both.
Once we had finished visiting several small shops we found Juicy Lucy’s Steakhouse and after a brief duration at the historic bar we sat down. As I skimmed the menu I noticed the perfect meal for me, Colorado Elk Sirloin. Organically grilled elk sirloin shaved and served on sautéed portabella mushrooms, but I was impressed by the {fish|seafood|fresh catch| selections on the choices. I was even more impressed by their daily offerings like; Beef Tenderloin in Tuscany Wine Sauce or Grilled Hawaiian Opa with Oriental Citrus Glaze. I had to inquire about the flavor and quality since it was obvious the closest real water was a long distance away. He explained they only include the freshest ingredients and the shell fish is flown in fresh six days a week. My wife choose the Sea Scallops and I have to say if you didn’t know you were in {the rocky mountains|Colorado|dry regions of the country| you would insist you were at a seafood restaurant on the coast.
Next day on the tour we decided on Basalt, and couldn’t get over the small pueblos from all over the Aspen Valley. In this valley we could sled in the winter, fly fish in the summer, hike, bike and be by ourselves, or go to a fun event or concert almost any night. We found our paradise and knowing that regardless where we moved to in the area we were only a small distance away from the greatest seafood in the middle of the Rocky Mountains. Who would have guessed that a dining area named Juicy Lucy’s Steakhouse would facilitate us make one of the greatest decisions of our life.
